Hi Moms! Autumn here from Tailored Fitness back this week to help us tackle our next trouble spot, the Butt, with a baby-wearing workout you’ll love. If you missed our first post about how to tone the tummy, you can check it out here.
There are 3 changes that occur during pregnancy that affect our backsides:
Weight gain
It is completely normal to gain weight in places other than your belly during pregnancy. It’s part of the way your body makes sure you have enough nourishment for the growing baby. You may have noticed that as your front was getting larger (aka: breasts and belly) that your backside was getting larger too (aka: your butt). I like to think of it as the good Lord’s way of making sure we don’t fall over!
Loss of muscle tone
Towards the end of pregnancy, the weight of your

Happy New Year Moms! Now that the family is gone, Christmas cookies are eaten, and presents are all opened, you are probably settling back into your normal life as a mom. If you are like most people, you are probably thinking about the new year and how you’d like to make it even better than last year. One of the areas you might like to improve in the New Year is your health. Let’s face it: as a mom, caring for yourself usually takes last place. You make sure your kids’ needs are met, take care of your spouse, and after that, if there’s time, you take care of you. Sadly this often leaves us moms disappointed…with how our clothes fit, with how often we get to exercise, and with our lack of energy.
Let’s make this year different! To be the best moms we can be, we must take care of ourselves. The good news is that by carving out just 20 minutes a day you can make some big changes this year! Over the next 3 weeks, we are going to tackle the top 3 trouble spots for moms: tummy, butt,

If you’re anything like me, the holidays are a time when your boundaries lessen or—complete honesty—totally disappear. (My favorite day-after-Thanksgiving breakfast? Pumpkin pie, thank you very much.) Luckily, Mama & Baby Love’s Stephanie Brandt Cornais, mama to 4-year-old Penelope, was up for sharing a few tips on how to have a healthier, saner season.
What are some of your Thanksgiving traditions?
Last Thanksgiving was my first grain free Thanksgiving. I was worried that my family might feel deprived, but it ended up going really well. So I’m excited to do that again this year. I’m trying to think back to the first time I did a roast turkey…. It was six or seven years ago, and I remember

If a full night’s sleep for anyone in your household is starting to feel like a long-lost luxury, Sleepy Planet’s Jennifer Waldburger and Jill Spivack are the ladies of your (ahem) dreams. Their Sleepeasy Solution program and one-on-one consultations give parents strategies and tools to help kids sleep better and longer. Ergobaby caught up with them for some pillow talk.
What inspired you to start Sleepy Planet?
Jill: I was a practicing family therapist when I had my first baby 16 years ago, and he had a very nasty sleep problem. My son was waking every two hours at night, I was nursing every couple of hours and when I wasn’t, my husband was pacing the floors, bouncing and rocking the baby. This went on for eight months until we reached out to a parenting center in New York City where we were living; the center was doing a micro-version of the program we have now fleshed out in Sleepy Planet. Once I had resolved my sleep issues with my son, I was inspired to do this

We all know the benefits of yoga and the benefits of babywearing. Since I'm a fan of both, I love that I'm able to combine them to help create baby-friendly exercise that we both can enjoy. Yoga and babywearing are a natural fit as the meditative nature helps soothe baby and since it's low-impact, it's very easy to involve baby in my practice.
Benefits of baby friendly exercise:
more achievable (no need to fit in around baby’s sleep schedule – baby can sleep in the carrier)
more affordable (no need to pay a babysitter)
more enjoyable (in a group setting)
more accountable (build relationships and receive encouragement from fellow moms)
more effective (baby weight increases mom’s weight bearing capacity)
a great fun time to bond with baby!
I've put together a few of my favorite poses to do while babywearing. Always remember while wearing your baby to be safe and careful!

For parents who carry their little one in a sling or a carrier, sunscreen is not a choice - it’s a must. Although the sleeping hood on the Ergobaby baby carrier has 50+ UPF protection, frequent babywearing parents should still take care to properly protect their little peanuts from sunburn.
Don’t let the thought of sun exposure dissuade you from wearing your baby as much as possible. Holding your baby in a carrier provides security for babies as they experience the familiar sensations they had in the womb like hearing your voice, feeling your heartbeat and your rhythmic breathing. Many moms also like being able to quickly respond to their baby’s cries and the benefits of increased eye-to-eye contact when carrying baby so closely.

We have reached the 4th and final key to finding your best post-baby body. Ok, let’s get down to business: the 4th key to your post-baby best is using Ergo to set a good example for your kiddos! This is a subject that is near and dear to my heart. Yes, we should exercise, eat well, and stay active for the sake of personal improvement, but a big motivation for a positive mindset and self-esteem should

Hope your week is going well and that you are on your way to finding your best post-baby body by applying the first 2 keys for success. Before we take a look at the 3rd key, let’s do a quick review. Forgive me, I was a teacher in my former life ...
Key # 1 – Exercising with your baby in the Ergo
- Make it your goal to exercise at least 4 days a week for about 30-45 minutes
- Cardio + Strength work = Fat loss
- Put your baby in the Ergo and try out the Workout with your baby video (Note: By clicking the link, you are agreeing to the Tailored Fitness Terms of Use)
Key # 2 - Cooking

I believe sharing what you are passionate about with your children can be such a gift to them. In my opinion, it inspires your children to find things in life that they are passionate about. For me, it is Holy Yoga (a Christian based approach to yoga). I'm a certified yoga instructor, and I am currently going through Holy Yoga training to become a Holy Yoga instructor. Next to being a mother and wife, it is what I am passionate about. I love incorporating my faith into movement of body, mind, and spirit.
It can be difficult finding the time to exercise as a new mom. But it doesn't have to be! Incorporate your time on your mat with your little ones! Below are a few yoga poses you can do with your little one in your Ergo.
I would suggest having bare feet when you practice, and to stand near a wall or a sturdy chair to balance yourself while practicing yoga with a little one in tow. Take all the precautions

Creator of the hugely popular Girl’s Gone Child blog, mom of four (son Archer, 7, daughter Fable, 3, and twin girls Boheme and Reverie, 1), published author—yup, Rebecca Woolf pretty much epitomizes inspiring. And after having breakfast with her one recent morning in L.A., I’m adding “thoughtful,” “wise,” and “hilarious” to the list.
What inspired Girl’s Gone Child (GGC)?
I was 23 when Archer was born. I didn’t have any friends who had kids, no mom groups. I had no way to process the parenting experience other than writing about it. And people slowly started reading. I honestly feel like I really got lucky. There were, like, 10 bloggers that I knew of writing about this stuff at the time (2005), and we were all doing it because we loved it and had something to
