"If there’s one thing I’ve learned about breastfeeding after nursing my two babies, it’s that correct positioning is absolutely essential to success. From excruciating soreness, to low supply, to a baby that just wanted to use me as a pacifier forever and ever (and ever!), I had a really rough go of it the first time around. But my daughter and I worked through the challenges, and once we found our sweet spot, nursing her became one of my most treasured memories from her first year."

With two teenagers and a baby under one roof, the Rios family balances a full plate everyday. A house full of good food, love and laughter, and a dash of Sephora, this family's positive vibes are contagious.
Tell us about your family.
My family keeps me very busy but I love them for it. My husband works from home for a computer company, my two step kids are busy high schoolers, and my baby Dillon eats non stop and won't stop growing! We all manage to live under one roof without killing each other… and we like it!
What does a typical day in your family look like?
A typical day… is never typical! Everyday is different for me. In the mornings though, my husband and I both wake up around 6am to have coffee and chat while the kids are still asleep. I then shower quickly,

What is the point of a birth plan?
Gone are the days around the thinking that a birth plan is something you write up to tell your care provider what you want to magically happen at your birth. A birth plan is an exploration, a journey into understanding who you are as parents. It encou

Becoming a mother is an incredible shift. Filled with beautiful moments, it’s also accompanied by a swift adjustment period. Finding a new flow between you, your babe and your partner takes patience and little support. Here are a few helpful tips that will ease the transition.
Go Lightly & Follow Your Babe
Take it easy and rest as much as time allows. The trick? Follow your babe. Try sleeping when your babe sleeps. Short power naps during the day will restore your energy quickly and make attending to your little one in the weehours of the morning much easier. If you’re not into naps, try what I call an ‘active-rest session': Pop on an audio book (maybe that parenting book you didn’t get the time to read) and let your mind unfurl for a moment.
Delegate
Let others know how they can best help you, including your partner. If your partner is going to be home with you during your maternity leave, consider delegating certain responsibilities to one another.

I wish I could say I have a recipe box filled with stained, crumpled up papers with delicious meals passed between generations, but the reality is I’m an avid “Pinner” and cooking magazine addict who likes to try new recipes! Family recipes all need to start with someone, right? I have a few staples I tend to bring out every year (sweet potatoes with cornflakes and marshmallows for my Brother, salted caramel cheesecake for my Grandmother, etc!) but a tried and true favorite that I make every Thanksgiving are Green Bean Haystacks. I was never a fan of green bean casserole, but still love green beans and like to incorporate them into this holiday. These also look like they took a lot more effort than they actually do, which I love. Few things make me happier than people thinking I slaved away in the kitchen when it’s really just a five-ingredient dish.
Green Bean Haystack
1 1/2 lbs. Green Beans, trimmed and blanched
6 Tbs. unsalted butter, melted
1 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
3/4 tsp.

Hey y’all! Kaelah here! I’m going to share a recipe my husband, Mike, and I use every Autumn to make the most delicious apple pie. I promise it’s not just any old apple pie either. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m far from an expert in the kitchen, but pies are one thing we can usually pull off. Every Thanksgiving we bake the family pies for the after-dinner treat, and it’s so awesome to see something we created bring happiness to those we love. We never go to any Thanksgiving dinner without at least one apple pie in hand. The thing that really makes this apple pie go above and beyond your typical recipe is that we prepare the filling in a skillet on the stove before baking. It’s a small, extra step, but it makes all the difference in the world. You’ll be amazed at how flavorful your pie is if you take the few extra minutes to do this! (Don’t worry! I did some mixing and rolling while wearing Linden, but Mike did the heavy lifting
